Stig Harley Pedersen

Stig Harley Pedersen is Purchasing and Logistics Manager at Nomo in Denmark.

Raikko Fridfelt, our previous guest in this series, asks: Do you have to travel a lot with your work?
I don’t travel much, just when necessary, instead I interact digitally. This works well and saves a lot of time.

Can you describe your journey through Nomo over the years?
I have worked at Nomo for 21 years. In 2000, Nomo was acquired by Axel Johnson International. The operations in Denmark were the first takeover Nomo made under Axel Johnson in 2001. I’ve always worked in purchasing and inside sales. I can look back on a wonderful time with lots of fantastic colleagues at different levels across the whole organisation. I started my career in the bearing industry in 1984, working in the warehouse at SKF Denmark. After that, I completed training in warehouse and trade at a wholesale company selling bearings. I’ve worked in the same industry the whole time.

What has given you the most professional development?
It’s been a quick development. I’ve always felt involved and had opportunities to present my ideas.

What are your personal strengths?
My many years’ experience in the industry.

What are the main challenges in Denmark for Nomo?
I would say that it is being able to manage customers with such very different needs and challenges in the best way.

What is the company’s best product?
I have always been proud of our comprehensive knowledge of rolling bearings at Nomo.

What do you do in your spare time?
In winter I play table tennis for fitness and tennis in the summer. I also enjoy gardening at our summer house in Kalundborg.

What sort of food do you enjoy?
I like good food, but let other people prepare it.

What do you like reading?
I follow the daily news and news feeds, but don’t have time to go into depth. It is a priority of course, I also listen a lot to music.

Who do you think is the world’s best artist?
I admire many, but don’t have any particular favourite.
