Employee interview

Rickard Kvist

Rickard Kvist has been a Key Account Manager towards OEM at Nomo in Sweden since January 2023.

Stian Aleksander Fremo, our previous guest in this series, asked you this: Which browser do you use?
I like Firefox as my regular browser. It has worked well, so I mostly stick to it.

What made you apply for a position at Nomo?
I have worked in the ball bearing industry for 20 years and was asked to join Nomo. It was timely, as my former employer was winding down its operations in the Nordic region.

Do you see any differences, then and now, after 20 years in the ball bearing business?
Both yes and no. Ball bearings are basically a traditional industry, but there are occasional innovations and product improvements. We are moving towards more sustainable development and energy-saving stores.

What is the best thing about your job?
Ball bearings is a rewarding industry, as they are incorporated into many products and used in so many different areas. These range from large bearings in wind turbines or in mining to smaller ball bearings in medical equipment. I have worked with clients in a variety of organisations, which also makes the job interesting.

What has your experience of joining the Nomo team been like?
Starting at Nomo has been fun and enjoyable. In previous jobs, I worked by myself with foreign colleagues a lot. For the first time in 20 years, I now have many Swedish and Nordic colleagues with whom I can exchange ideas on a daily basis.

What is your motivation?
It is an exciting challenge to receive an enquiry, see the potential of how I can help a customer and make a difference by offering a good solution.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I'm pretty good at dialects, i.e. guessing where people come from.

What is your best environmental tip?
My top environmental tip is to put on an extra jumper when it's cold.

What is your favourite food?
A favourite is chicken stew with rice, and Asian chicken dishes in general.

What do you do in your spare time?
I exercise, cycle and ski. I recently became a grandfather and help my two daughters with things like fixing cars or when they need help with other practical things. We also spend time in our summer house outside Arvika.

What music do you listen to?
I think the 80s and 90s have the best music ever because I grew up with that music.

What makes you happy?
When my hockey team Rögle BK from Ängelholm wins. I live in Karlstad, but grew up in Höganäs in Skåne.

Our next guest is Helinä Ahonen, a buyer at Nomo in Finland; what question would you like to ask her?
Can you dance the Finnish tango?
