Employee interview

Martin Nyström

Martin Nyström works at Nomo's central warehouse in Täby since October 2022.

Hanna Killström, our previous guest in this series, asks: How do Nomo's values apply to your work?
The workplace is both characterised and guided by its values; Just looking at it, one could jokingly say that it looks like a well-oiled machine.

Why did you apply for a position at Nomo?
I have been working in warehousing for 25 years. When my former employer was moving its operations to Eskilstuna, I felt that it was a long commute, and I value my free time. So I started looking for a new job and found out that Nomo was looking for people. Nomo being an older company, with a good corporate culture appealed to me and I only live 15 minutes from the warehouse in Täby.

How has the experience of joining the Nomo team been?
At first it felt a bit messy because we were under high work load, but it worked out and it feels very good to be part of the Nomo team. I have received valuable help from people around me, even colleagues in other departments are ready to answer questions that arise in the warehouse.

You stock around a very large amount of different items, what drives you at work?
I always want to do my job as good as possible, I like to work and see when things work.

You've worked in warehouses for much of your life, what's your favourite part of the job? I enjoy the job, we work so closely together all the time, I like that.

How do you think those around you perceive your workplace?
I believe they think it's a good place to work. I am a happy person, which also shows that I am enjoying myself. How a person feels is a good reflection of the person's workplace, I think.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I played the violin in an orchestra in my younger years. Today, when I hear people playing, I can perceive music in a different way.

What is the best song of all time?
A remarkably good song is Gimme your love by Morcheeba.

You said you value your free time, what do you do?
I practice bodybuilding and compete as well. In the final of the Swedish Championships, I came fifth in classic bodybuilding. The rest of the time I am with my fiancée and our four cats, we also have a house to take care of.

Our next guest is Amanda Pettersson; HR coordinator at head office in Täby, what question would you like to ask her?
If life was like a chocolate bar, what kind would you want to be?
