Employee interview

Henrik Walter

Henrik Walter joined Nomo on 1 June 1999 and has been Group CEO since 1 January 2022.

Mikael Dahlkvist, our previous guest in this series, asks: Where do you see Nomo in five years compared to today?
Although we have grown a lot, we will continue to be the personal supplier and leading specialist for mechanical power transmissions. Through representation in even more locations in the Nordic region, we will offer our customers specialised knowledge, great products and even more services.

Can you describe your journey through the company?
I started in our Engineering Department as a technician and product specialist. Over the years, I have held eight different roles before taking up the position as CEO. I have focused on engineering and sales in general. My focus has been on leadership since 2006. An important reason why I have stayed at Nomo is the opportunity to develop and constantly take on new challenges.

What made you apply for a job at Nomo?
Nomo's product range is interesting technology used in so many industrial sectors. There was also an international element through the co-operation on the customer and supplier side that was attractive. Seeing the world has always appealed to me.

What is the main challenge of being a group CEO with operations in five countries?
We are an incredibly dynamic company with around 8 000 customers and almost 180 employees, so there are always situations where I am involved.

What do you appreciate most in your work?
Above all, working together with all the great people in our group. The fact that we develop the organisation together and have a strong sense of “us", makes me happy and makes it fun to go to work every day. It is also a fantastic journey to be part of Nomo's development, from a small retailer and a family business to a multinational group that now specialises in several areas.

What do you think is Nomo's strength?
The people in the company, our agility and our ability to constantly evolve.

How do you think those around you perceive Nomo?
Many people probably see Nomo as a stimulating workplace, that we are forward-looking, proactive and a professional company that is constantly developing.

What is your most memorable event at Nomo?
Nomo's 75th anniversary celebration in the spring was a great experience. It was great to see the joy and togetherness of the whole team when almost all employees gathered together.

What is your best environmental tip?
Everyone can do something, even small efforts are important. A key issue is recycling in order to protect the earth's resources; it is important to utilise the recycling systems we have. Today, recycling and renovation is also an increasingly important part of our customer offering and something we are investing heavily in.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I am good with a chainsaw and felling trees.

Your biggest success in life?
Being part of an amazing family and watching my daughter grow up.

What do you do in your spare time?
I am a city dweller but I like to spend time in the forest. I hunt and try to play golf from time to time. I am also passionate about following my football team through thick and thin.

You are a passionate cook, which food do you choose first?
I am a true omnivore and like most things, except for sea cucumber and fermented shark.

What music do you listen to?
I listen to all music and grew up in a musical family. My interest in soul music comes from my mother, rock music from my father and pop and punk from my own childhood. I have played drums, violin, bass, saxophone and been a singer.

Our next guest is Jan Ledal, what question would you like to ask him?
