Employee interview

Hanna Killström

Hanna Killström works with purchasing and marketing in Turku, Finland.

Christian Pettersen, our previous guest in this series, asks: What challenges must we prepare for in the troubled times we have in the world today?
In short, I would say that the most important thing is to be optimistic through difficult times. Today's major issues on both a personal and global level are the economy, environmental issues and so on, where education and training can help prepare for future challenges.

How long have you worked at Nomo?
Since 2012 when Nomo bought Tekniikkacenter, but I have been at the same workplace and in the same industry since 1992. I started almost straight after my studies.

What made you apply for a job at Nomo?
My first contact was a summer job at Tekniikkacenter and after the summer I got the opportunity to continue. I enjoyed the work and got on with my colleagues.

Can you describe your journey through Nomo over the years?
Although my title, Purchasing/Marketing, has always been the same, the work has changed and expanded as the company has grown. Nomo provides great opportunities for personal development and on-the-job training.

What is the best thing about your job?
The best part is the variety, no two days or weeks are the same. Despite being a large company, Nomo is still very flexible and you can always bring your own ideas to the table. A large community, good co-operation and great colleagues also contribute to a good working environment.

What is the main challenge in your work?
There are a lot of deadlines to meet, so prioritising my time and work is important. Nomo operates in five countries, therefore I think globally, rather than narrowly in my work.

How do you think your surroundings perceive your workplace?
I would like to think that Nomo is considered a highly professional and reliable partner.

What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time is largely spent in the countryside. An old farm always requires maintenance and firewood. It also matters to me to meet up with friends. An evening coffee with a friend is nice and relaxing and doesn't have to be planned too far in advance.

What sort of food do you enjoy?
We are a group of ten friends who meet about four times a year to cook and eat together. We always try to find something new and different and are a bit experimental in the kitchen.

Our next guest is Martin Nyström; he works at Nomo’s central warehouse in Täby, what question would you like to ask him?
How do Nomo's values apply to your work?
