Employee interview
Håkan Pettersson
Håkan Pettersson took up the post of Product Manager for rolling bearings at Nomo on February 1st this year. However, Håkan is not new to the company, having worked at Nomo for several years. Can you describe your journey through the company over the years? Initially, I ran my own business from 1996 to 2007 when the company was bought by AxIndustries, of which Nomo is part. I’m currently in my 27th year and since 2011 I’ve been a key account manager with a broad customer segment, everything from small companies to large groups. I am most proud of having satisfied customers which results in customer retention and developing our collaboration. What has given you the most professional development? I appreciate the personal contact, being able to help clients to solve problems and the huge variety I have in my work is great. Sometimes I have met mechanics working on a paper mill or a steel work and then the next minute I’m sitting down in discussions with the management. Sometimes I’ve assembled bearings for customers. For example, I once assembled bearings in a crusher in a mine at a depth of 1,085 metres. I’ve even worked around the world, including in China and signed contracts in Waterloo in Belgium with an international steel group! What does it feel like to take on the challenge of Product Manager for rolling bearings? It is really cool to take on a new role covering the whole Nomo Group and to support our sales team. After working in sales for 27 years, we are now working with our suppliers on a new level to develop our product range together. What are your personal strengths? My combined knowledge of our product range and background in industrial technology. I studied Morgårdshammar’s industrial engineering course during my secondary education. My strength is being able to see and visualise solutions to client problems. Do you have any hidden talents? I have done a lot of carpentry and renovated four houses. Another talent is also that I can adapt to different situations and talk to anyone. What do you do in your spare time? After two hip operations I hope to start playing golf again. My wife and I enjoy travelling, we spend all our holidays at our house in Thailand. We also take excursions from there. Our next guest is Therese Lehmann; a new Inside Sales representative for Nomo, what question would you like to ask her? What is your goal for the future?
