Employee interview

Christian Pettersen

Christian Pettersen is a Purchasing and Logistics Manager at Nomo in Ålesund, Norway.

Lisbet Kekki, our previous guest in this series, asks: What is the most challenging part of your job right now?
The challenge now is ensuring good access to goods for our customers. Despite the uncertainty in Europe and the rest of the world, activity in the industry in Norway is good.

Can you describe your journey over the years?
I have worked at Nomo since the company acquired the Norwegian storage and transmission specialist Rotek AS in 2018. Altogether, I have worked in the same industry for 25 years, starting at Rotek in 1998. I started in receiving orders and completed training in the warehouse to learn about the products. Throughout my journey, I have worked with products from the point of purchase from suppliers to when we sell them to customers.

What made you apply for a job at Nomo?
Back in 1998, when I applied for a job at Rotek, it was by chance. I had just planned to do something else for a while in Ålesund.

What is your motivation?
The most important thing is customer satisfaction. Customers who come back and keep our business going.

What are the main challenges in your work? Finding good partners who can deliver the products we need. Without good suppliers, we can’t offer our services to customers.

What do you think is the company's best product?
Our best product is the skills and expertise that our people continually bring to the table.

What do you do in your free time?
I spend a lot of time in the countryside. Nothing beats a campfire in the great outdoors.

What is your favourite food?
Anything grilled is good. In addition, I am an omnivore; meat, fish and vegetarian food are on the menu.

What music do you listen to?
I’ll listen to any type of rock, preferably some heavy rock. I'm an avid user of Spotify so there's a lot of music.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Hmm. No.

What makes you happy?
Time in our summer house in northern Norway with a fishing rod in my hand makes me happy. It doesn't get any better than that.

Our next guest is Hanna Killström; she works in purchasing and marketing at Nomo in Finland, what question would you like to ask her?
What challenges must we prepare for in the troubled times we have in the world today??
