Employee interview
Bård Fleischer
Bård Fleischer has been the Finance Manager at Nomo in Norway since 1st November 2022, based in Ålesund and Trondheim. Anita Mansikka, our previous guest in this series, asked the question: How would your colleagues describe you? I hope they see me as a reliable person and a good colleague. What does your position entail? My job is to coordinate Nomo's financial monitoring of operations in Norway and prepare the organisation for further development and growth. I also work on system development and system integration with other units in the group. What made you apply for this position? I was interested in the huge potential and good opportunities for further development and growth in Norway that Nomo has. Norway is a large country with many opportunities. Today we are located in the centre of the country, but there are a lot of black spots. Nomo is a solid group with good profitability and great opportunities. This made the choice easy for me. How does working in two offices 40 kilometres apart work? With today's technology, long distances are not a problem. Some days I am physically present in Ålesund and other days in Trondheim. What have you worked on with before? I have mainly worked in economics for 23 years. I have extensive experience in fishing and fish farming nationally and internationally. In recent years, I have worked with business development within various investment projects in areas such as land-based fish farming and biotechnology. What is the best thing about your job? The Nomo Group invests in individuals and skills development. I am positively surprised by the business opportunities we have in Norway, and to be able to continue to develop in my work. What are your personal strengths? I have good analytical skills and can quickly analyse a situation and identify opportunities for improvement. How has the experience of joining the Nomo team been? I have felt positively welcomed by everyone. From my colleagues in Ålesund and Trondheim and from everyone I have met within the Nomo Group. What do you do in your spare time? I am heavily involved in the children's activities. My eldest son is 16 years old and is a keen biathlete. My other son, who is 13 years old, has taken up ski jumping. We also have a 4-year-old daughter who started ballet, so there is a lot to keep up with. I have an interest in fishing and fishing stories. Do you have any hidden talents? I am practical and good at reversing a trailer. What makes you happy? My primary concern is the well-being of the family. A good condition for that is that I enjoy my job, which I really do. Our next guest is Lisbet Kekki; she works in finance at Nomo in Finland, what question would you like to ask her? What opportunities for improvement do you see in your own work, what could you do better?
